This is a cordial invitation to those who wish to deepen their mindfulness practice and those who want to try out a practice of mindfulness combined with music and movement.
This course brings together two motives that have been important in my life this year:
First, we live in times of increasing challenges. How can we meet personal, interpersonal, and societal challenges with mindfulness and resilience? How can we (re-)connect to our inner wisdom to guide our actions in this complex world?
Second, animal research shows that activities that enrich the environment and engage multiple senses promote good health. Together with colleagues in Dresden, we are conducting a study to test the impact of an enriched multi-sensory online mindfulness, music, and movement intervention with older adults (the REMINDer Study).
I would like to bring these two strands together in a half-day non-silent meditation workshop at the beginning of next year. In this workshop, we will practice mindful awareness, mindful listening, and mindful movements. I will introduce the contemplative and scientific background before each practice and guide meditations and gentle practices related to music and (joint) movement. Practices will be followed by an exchange of experiences. Key topics will be acceptance, kindness, compassion, and joy.
Ideally, you will practice in a quiet space, with a chair, cushion, or sofa to sit on. It would be good to have some space for gentle movement practices.
